Design Notes

Steel framed buildings can be clad and constructed in accordance with all traditional design methods and materials.  The concept is a modular build based on a pitched roof mounted to an independent, freestanding structural segment which can be repeated to provide any length or width combination required to protect an area.  The modular design distributes the weight of the building economically requiring the minimum of groundwork preparation to receive it.  This is a deliberate design feature to keep groundwork costs to an absolute minimum.

The building fabric is our first low cost weatherproofing choice.  However with little additional cost timber, sheet metal or any other reasonable building materials can be used to the same affect or for greater security.  In its basic form this building is totally relocatable without material loss or devaluation.

The building can be column mounted on a series of independent bolted plate supports.  The retractable versions offer a perfect solution for weak ground or minimising expensive groundworks by distributing the building load along the track length.  This effectively reduces ground loads by over 80% of traditional construction methods with a corresponding cost reduction.

Fixed box section frames or pantographic connections to goalpost frames providing a retractable mechanism

Metallic structure in hot galvanised steel tubes

Joints are ribbed plates with absolutely no welding guaranteeing 20% more structural balance than the traditional welded truss

All the corners of the trusses are lined with plastic protection coverings to protect the PVC skin cover from damage

The trusses slide on special watertight solid steel wheels with double ballbearings

Wheel hub comprises a special casing that completely covers the wheel to prevent possible accidents during sliding

The paths comprise galvanised steel bent under pressure and may be fixed externally with blocks or fixed to the ground with concrete

The robust tarpaulin comprises PVC treated with a double coating of class M2 fire retardant and weighs 9000 gms per sq.m.

The material has excellent resistance to abrasion, tearing and ageing

A special system made by hot welded plates with steel rings is used to fix the PVC fabric cover on to the steel frame

Building Regulations

Designed and constructed in accordance with CNR-UNI 10011/88 regulations which govern steel constructions.

The snow and wind loadings are calculated in accordance with local tables. 

Guarantees:  10 years for the structure, 6 years for the roof covering
